Privacy Policy

Wiser Years respects your privacy and takes your data seriously. This document explains what data we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what rights you have over it.

1. Who we are

Wiser Years is currently operated as a personal project by Dumitru George-Cristian, with the intent of incorporating as a U.S. legal entity before public launch. For any data-related question, contact: technical.med.dgc@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

We collect only the minimum needed to provide our service:

• Email address — if you leave one when taking the quiz or subscribing.
• Quiz answers — anonymized and stored locally in your browser (localStorage). They are not sent to our servers unless you explicitly request it.
• Account data — if you create an account, we store your email and your purchase history.
• Anonymous usage data — pages visited, time on site (via privacy-friendly analytics, no third-party tracking cookies — see section 7).

3. Why we process your data

• To send the personalized quiz report (if you leave your email).
• For the email course (if you explicitly subscribe).
• To improve content — we look at common questions that don't yet have library coverage (aggregated, no individual identification).
• To meet legal obligations (billing, if you purchase a membership).

The legal basis is your explicit consent for emails and contract performance for paid services.

4. Sensitive health data

Your menopause-related symptoms (quiz answers, scores, medical context) are sensitive data. For this data:

• They are stored locally in your browser(localStorage). We do not transfer them to our servers.
• We do not use them for automated profiling with legal consequences.
• We do not share them with third parties for marketing.
• You can delete them at any time from your browser settings (Settings → Privacy → Clear site data).

5. How long we keep your data

• Your email: until you request deletion or unsubscribe. Email addresses associated with receipts are retained as required by U.S. tax/accounting rules.
• Health data (local): stays in your browser as long as you wish. You can delete it anytime.
• Anonymous usage data: aggregated, retained up to 24 months.

6. Who we share data with

No one, unless absolutely necessary for the service to function. We don't sell your data. We don't advertise with your data. Third-party processors we use (or will use at launch):

• Vercel — site hosting.
• Resend / Postmark — sending transactional emails.
• Stripe — payment processing. Stripe collects card data directly; we never see it.
• Supabase — database for user accounts.

All processors are reputable providers with strong security practices and data processing agreements (DPAs) in place.

7. Cookies and tracking

Wiser Years does not use advertising-tracking cookies (Google Ads, Meta Pixel, etc.). We use only:

• localStorage — to save your quiz progress and answers. It stays in your browser; nothing is sent elsewhere.
• Privacy-friendly analytics (Plausible or PostHog with anonymized settings) — pages visited, with no individual identification.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access — find out what data we have about you.
• Correction — fix incorrect data.
• Deletion — request that we erase your data.
• Portability — export your data in a standard format.
• Opt-out — stop receiving marketing communications.
• Withdraw consent — at any time, without justification.
• California residents (CCPA): you have additional rights, including the right to know which categories of personal information we collect and the right to opt out of any sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information).

To exercise any right, write to us at the contact address (see section 12 below). We respond within 30 days, usually much sooner.

9. Security

We use HTTPS across the entire site. Our processors (Vercel, Supabase, Stripe, Resend) are certified to international security standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001). Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

10. Children

Wiser Years is intended for adult women (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from people under 18. If you are a parent and suspect we have data about your child, please contact us.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will give notice on the site and by email (if you have an account). Changes take effect 30 days after publication, or immediately if required by law.
